The North Florida Baptist Tabernacle (later changed to Cantonment Baptist Church) was organized on May 9, 1971. In the fall of 1971, the church purchased a small house facing Old Palafox Highway. An auditorium was attached to the house in 1976. In January of 1995, the Mrs. Julia Waters Estate donated 8.5 acres of land on Alabama Highway 112 in Clear Springs, AL. In 1998, under the leadership of Pastor Ray Davis, a building was erected. The 12,000 square foot building remained unfinished and empty for the next six years. On September 16, 2004, Hurricane Ivan ravished the Pensacola area and Cantonment Baptist Church was heavily damaged. Unable to meet in the church building, the church family pitched a tent on the front lawn and services were held there for the next eight weeks. The property on Old Palafox Highway was sold shortly after the hurricane. Under the leadership of Pastor Glen M. Brown, Cantonment Baptist Church moved to its present location in Clear Springs on December 12, 2004 and became known as Clear Springs Baptist Church. Since the hurricane, there have been days of trials, challenge and also great joy! Not only did our church families have to deal with damage to our homes and property and disruption of employment, but much work was needed to make Clear Springs Baptist Church ready to be occupied and put to use. We thank our Lord Jesus Christ for the men and ladies who have put such time and effort into making this church a lighthouse to the communities of Baldwin County and the greater Pensacola area. Clear Springs Baptist Church is an Independent, Fundamental Baptist Church. We place a strong emphasis upon the Word of God, encouragement for the family, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission through a "Faith Promise" Missions Program. |
