Why We Do What We Do...

In the summer of 2006 a single individual stood alone in front of a little building on a busy street of Pensacola, Florida. After months of standing alone this member of Clear Springs Baptist Church passed his burden on to others and in August of 2007 several fellow believers began to gather every Friday morning in front of the Community Healthcare Clinic of Pensacola, FL. The Community Healthcare Center is a relatively small building which offers its primary medical services once a week between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 a.m. Up to fourty or more individuals enter this foreboding structure each Friday morning, yet only half have the privilege to come out alive. It is for this reason that we, the members of Clear Springs Baptist Church, began to gather here many months ago, and it is for this reason we will continue to gather until this abortion mill shuts its doors forever.

Over the past months of conducting scripture vigils at the Community Healthcare Center, a great deal has been learned as to what is the most effective, practical and most importantly, the most Biblical means of standing up for life. As more and more believers began to step forward and join in these efforts, opposition also began to crop up. This response from the world came as no surprise as we are instructed in the Bible to marvel not if the world hates us. What has come as a greater surprise to us is the seemingly relentless disapproval on the part of fellow believers regarding our methods of protesting at the clinic. The initial reaction on our part to such criticism was one of disappointment. However, God has used this continual critiquing by fellow believers to cause the members of Clear Springs Baptist Church to stop and honestly ponder these questions:

Why are we doing this?

Are the methods we use Biblical?

It was these questions and many others like them which moved the believers of Clear Springs Baptist to publish the following statement of position: Let Them Live!
